Washing your Luxury Sports Sedan

Cleaning your luxury sport sedan begins with picking the right tools

Car Wash MittHere is a list of the basics needed to wash your car:

1.    (2 ) 5 gallon wash buckets (one for rinsing and one for soap)

2.    Car wash soap (not dish detergent as it will remove wax)

3.    Microfiber wash mitt or sponge

4.    Microfiber drying towel

5.    Soft bristle tire and wheel brush

6.    Hose with spray nozzle

Begin by filling both buckets with clean water.  Add soap to one of the water filled buckets and agitate. This process is known as the two bucket wash method. You want to ensure that you use plenty of soap since the car wash soap acts as lubricant of sorts when washing your car.

Hose the car down with a medium stream of water to remove any loose contaminants of dirt, road tar and grime. Dip the microfiber wash mitt or sponge into the bucket of water to ensure there are no left over pieces of dirt, wring and then dip in soap filled bucket. Start washing on the roof of the car. As you progress you want to keep plenty of soapy water on the sponge. Each time you stop washing or need soap, dip and rinse the sponge or wash mitt in the clean bucket of water.  This will help keep any particles of dirt from remaining in the fibers of the mitt or sponge and prevent the addition of adding tiny scratches and marring marks.

After the roof is complete, hose off and then continue working down the vehicle from the top down.  Continue on with same process and wash sections of the car. Pay careful attention as you near the car fenders and quarter panels of the car as these are areas prone to collecting larger pieces of dirt and tar.

Once the car has been washed, use the sponge to wipe and clean the rims of the vehicle one at a time. Once washed and the brake dust has been removed hose off, move to the next rim.

Use the soft bristle brush and dip in soapy water and use to scrub the tires. After each use rinse in clean bucket water.  Rinse with water and repeat on the other tires.

Finally use a soft microfiber drying towel and dry the car being careful not to drag the towel over the surface if dirt is picked up.
